With the Cannes Film Festival being around three weeks away…I’m feeling the excitement brewing and the French Riviera elegant vibes echoing again..
In general, May is particularly exhilarating for me.
First, because Spring has already kicked in for good and the weather is dreamy.
Second, because plans for the Summer are not far away.
Third, because I say goodbye to one age group and graciously celebrate entering the next…it’s my birthday month.
But I always think of the Cannes Film Festival as an official milestone that introduces us to the Summer season in the most divine, elegant and glamorous way.
Attention is indeed magnetised on the different corners of the French Riviera that “dress up” for what would be the first iconic, fascinating, sparkly moments of the Summer season.
Let’s not forget the Monaco Grand Prix..a personal favourite. Although, in all honesty I’m not a particular fan of Formula 1, this race is simply unique. In the tiny , luxurious principality of Monaco, the adrenaline rush while the cars race around the breathtaking circuit of Monte-Carlo, passing some of the finest spots (the Place du Casino and the legendary Hotel de Paris which prepares its flagship Louis XV restaurant terrace specifically for all Grand Prix viewers while they enjoy a Michelin-starred light lunch exclusively prepared by chef Alain Ducasse) is enchantingly even magically hooking…
And for your free days, where no major function takes place…take the time to explore the picturesque gems around the French Riviera, such as Èze, Saint Jean Cap Ferrat (where the emblematic Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is still synonymous to eternal style & class) and further down, approaching Cannes, Cap d’ Antibes (one of the most iconic “Rock” hotels is there) and last but not least la Plage de Saint-Tropez…
So hold your breaths a little longer, May in all its glory is just around the corner..and if you simply can’t wait..meet me at Hotel du Cap on the next post..
